What would make you commit murder?
Germany, 1941.
Now that the Nazis have taken over her homeland, Anna Goldberg, a seventeen-year-old Jew is afraid to go anywhere and is effectively a prisoner in her own home.
When Anna’s father, Josef, hears that he’s about to be arrested by the Gestapo, he fakes his daughter’s death and sends her to a ‘trusted friend’. This mysterious friend hides Anna in the most unlikely of places- in plain sight of the Nazis and here the unthinkable occurs, her fate forever changed.
Forced into this deadly game of hide and seek, can Anna survive the greatest threat to her existence? Will she find the courage to fight her enemies with the only weapon she has available in her arsenal- the Lily of the valley?
History has always been a part of my DNA—both of my parents lived through the Second World War, and I’ve long believed that understanding history is essential for our culture. We must learn from the past to avoid repeating its mistakes. Remembrance Day on November 11th, is another important way to honour our shared history.

A hauntingly powerful tale of resilience and vengeance!
Switching between eight different character perspectives, all told during one of the most striking periods in history. Lily of the Valley grips you from the first page and never lets go.
One of my favorite books of the year.
Fascinating
Vilma Di Nardo has created in a unique storytelling voice, undoubtedly, one of the best books I’ve ever read. Each page is filled with vivid descriptions and powerful emotions that linger long after the final page. A must-read for those seeking a deeply moving and unforgettable tale.
